Small Business of the Year Applications Now Being Accepted

The Currituck Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking nominations for its 2010 business and service awards. The Small Business of the Year, Non-Profit of the Year, and Most Attractive Business of the Year awards will be presented to Chamber members who excel in these categories.

The Corporate Community Service Award will recognize a Chamber member business/corporation that has made a notable contribution to the quality of life in Currituck County.

The John Gregory Shuk Exemplary Service Award will be presented to an individual who goes above and beyond for their community. In memory of the Chamber’s former Vice Chairman, Greg Shuk, this award is meant to honor a member of our community who is inspirational, passionate, and caring. Nominations for this award are open to any Currituck County resident.

New this year will be a "Good Neighbor" Award, presented to a Currituck Chamber member whose main office if located outside of Currituck County, but who services this area and supports our community. The application for the Good Neighbor Award will be posted soon.

Award recipients will be chosen by an Awards Committee made up of five members, representing the Currituck Chamber, Currituck County, and the College of The Albemarle Small Business Center. Awards will be presented at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon on September 23rd. Deadline for submission is August 20, 2010. Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon This September

Mark your calendars for the Currituck Chamber's Annual Membership Meeting and Awards Luncheon on Thursday, September 23rd. The Annual Meeting is an opportunity for our members to come together and hear a review of the previous year's accomplishments and goals for the coming year. We will also share the results of our Member Benefit Survey, outline some new and/or improved services being offered as a result of that survey, and introducing our Board of Directors for the 2010-2011 year. More details will follow on this meeting.

Following the Annual Meeting is the 2010 Small Business of the Year Awards Luncheon, where the Chamber will honor small businesses and their contributions to this community. Plan to join us for both events this year!
